Omnimax Theater Chicago

Part of the Museum complex, the Omnimax Theater is a wrap-around, domed theater reaching 5 stories high. Films spark the imagination and encourage inquisitive thinking. Movies shown include Flight of the Butterflies and The Last Reef. Tickets are available for purchase in advance and can be combined with the museum entry fee.

Upcoming Exhibits

Opening Spring 2014, are two new exciting Museum exhibits. THINK explores the major tech and scientific advances of the last hundred years. National Geographic Presents: Earth Explorers showcases our planet’s eco-zones including the rain forests, oceans, polar regions, mountains, savannas, and caves.

  • What are the dining options?

    Recharge at the Brain Food Court on the Museum’s lower level. Here you can savor salads, fresh deli sandwiches, pizza, stir-fry, and grilled favorites. The Museum Café delivers quick bites like pastries, sandwiches, and Starbucks coffee drinks. Finnigan’s Ice Cream Parlor on the main level is named for a Hyde Park original, serving up decadent shakes and sundaes.
  • Are there any upcoming events?

    Check the Museum’s online calendar for the latest special events, because there’s always something new. The first week of April is National Robotics Week. From March through December 2014, The White City…Then and Now is an interactive 90-minute tour back in time to the 1893 World’s Columbian Exposition, which took place in Chicago. Tickets are separate from regular admission tickets.
